Squadron Leader Andy Brooks

I’ve been a member of the Air Cadets for a little over 35 years now.  It all started as a cadet at 13 in the west end of Newcastle.  Being a teenager growing up in the 1980s was a tough place to be and the Air Cadets helped me develop skills and interests as a youth not only in aviation but leadership, being part of a team and self discipline.  It made me a better person and the person I am today with a great job and lifestyle.  It continues to challenge me as a member of staff and the activities I am involved in are extremely rewarding, maintaining my interests today and for the future. If I could re-live the last 35 years I wouldn’t change anything.  I would recommended it to any young person or adult.  I would go on to say that you only get out of the Air Cadets what you put into it.  It’s there for the taking.  Go for it!
