Regional Training Day Success for DNW!

Cadets and Staff from across Durham/Northumberland Wing travelled to RAF Linton-on-Ouse to take part in the Regional Training Day, competing against the 4 other Wings in North Region Air Cadets in disciplines as varied as First Aid, Band, Aeromodelling, Drill, Media and Aircraft Recce. Huge congratulations go to our fantastic Wing band Durham/Northumberland Wing - Music, who not only won the Marching Band category, but also came 1st in the Ensemble category! Adventure Training Challenge 2016!

Air Cadets from 25 Squadrons in Durham/Northumberland Wing came together last weekend to compete in their annual Adventure Training Challenge. The Challenge, which consists of a timed day walk, first aid, mountain biking, archery, climbing, and an orienteering task, took place at RAF Spadeadam on the Northumberland/Cumbria border. Teams of five cadets from each Squadron had planned the checkpoints for their walk in advance, and entered their best archers, climbers and first aiders in each element of the competition. First Aid

All Cadets and Staff take part in some first aid training, from the introductory Heartstart course, to the full 16-hour St John Ambulance Activity First Aid. HEARTSTART All Cadets and Staff undertake this short British Heart Foundation course, which introduces them to the basics of first aid. YOUTH FIRST AIDER Many Cadets will progress to the St John Youth First Aider, which is a comprehensive course covering many aspects of first aid, and leading to the award of a Bronze First Aid Badge. Having a recognised first aid certificate is also a great addition to Cadets' CVs! ADULT FIRST AID TRAINING The Wing also runs St John Ambulance 16-hour Activity First Aid courses for staff and older cadets.
